Lesley has her ice cream made for her by Moira and Dougal Simpson of the Cabin of Buckie. While Moira is the inspirational and magical sensation person for flavours, Dougal is the business and production man. Their business is the one; most top Scottish chefs rely on to deliver not only a product to match their personal menu but one which delivers true flavours. Moira uses only the very very best ingredients and their production methods are most definitely hands on.
Gillian and Graeme Taylor of Taylors of Biggar also make ice cream for Lesley. A childhood treat of trips to Biggar brought Lesley south to ask Mr. Taylor senior, if they would consider making ice cream for her new Stonehaven shop. Although they have never travelled over the Forth Road Bridge both Gillian and Graeme ventured to the sea side town to bring their famous traditional ice creams to Aunty Bettys.
Graeme also has the unenviable task of making tablet and fudge for Lesley. Taylors tablet and fudge are so very delicious that Lesley makes her fudge sauce for one of Aunty Bettys ice cream toppings, from the golden fudge bars. The tablet and fudge bars, out sell every other sweetie in the shop.
Aunty Bettys decided to establish their ice cream cakes as their signature product in December of 2007.
Lesley and Holly layer up the ice cream, in moulds for each individual cake. This allows you to choose your own favourite combinations of ice cream, then the girls have a lovely time decorating the cake to suit your occasion.
Spring 2008 brings about the launch of Aunty Bettys, Deli Lunch To Go range.
The menu is small, simple using fresh ingredients, combined to make your take a way food box only when you place your order. As the menu is seasonal you will find changes through out the year.
Aunty Bettys is only across the road from the North Sea. The wind whips off your ice cream, from its cone in February. The waves lap at the doors of the shop in March and the sun melts the ice creams in the big glass cabinet in August.
Thats what makes Aunty Bettys not just a summer fair day ice cream shop but an all round the year, open every day shop. Have a special treat. Be good to your self, enjoy our warm and welcoming space.
